Vidyo Brings HD Videoconferencing to Your Mac

HD videoconferencing solutions provider Vidyo has announced its now bringing the capabilities of high definition, enterprise videoconferencing to the desktops of Apple (News - Alert) Mac OS users.
Hackensack, New Jersey-based Vidyo makes it possible for people to communicate effectively by using HD quality video from wherever they happen to be.
The company's HD conferencing technology for desktops was first offered for PC's in 2008 and has since experienced a number of successes.
Like their solution for PC's, Mac users now have access to thier solution built on a new architecture and that enables endpoints to seamlessly interoperate from HD room systems to laptops within the same conference via converged IP networks.
'The release of our VidyoDesktop for Mac OS further delivers on VidyoConferencing's promise of high quality anytime, anywhere and on any platform,' said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo (News - Alert) CEO.
'Until now there were no viable HD videoconferencing solutions for the Mac desktop and laptop users. We are pleased to be the first to bring this significant innovation to market.'
Earlier this year, Vidyo announced it was awarded the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Product of the Year Award in the North American Conferencing and Collaboration Market for their achievement in introducing a new line of video conferencing products that leverages the H.264/SVC standard.
The research and consulting firm noted that Vidyo's offering is especially significant in today's marketplace because of the strong demand from large businesses to, 'leverage their existing investment in videoconferencing and deploy HD videoconferencing for all of their employees to use, both in conference rooms and at desktops.'
Unlike other offerings, Vidyo is able to assist remote workers and telecommuters with staying in touch and having HD quality video sessions as their approach to video coding 'eliminates 80 percent of the delay, freezing and audio loss that plagues traditional videoconferencing, without requiring expensive network upgrades and complex bandwidth management solutions all while providing an HD experience for desktop users,' the company said.
Customers already making use of the newly announced Vidyo solution for Mac have begun noting appreciation for the offering:
